Last week, a chase in Georgia ended dramatically when a suspect’s vehicle crashed onto the windshield of a police officer’s patrol car. The Sandy Springs Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit assisted the Department of Homeland Security Atlanta Field Office in apprehending Jorge Luis Delgado-Bamudez, who is facing serious drug charges in Fulton County, involving substances like methamphetamine and cocaine.
Officials suspect that Delgado-Bamudez is linked to a significant criminal organization and now also faces federal charges. During the attempt to apprehend him near the 8100 block of Colquitt Road, the suspect’s vehicle collided with a concrete barrier, which resulted in part of it landing on a police cruiser.
After the crash, the suspect exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly captured without resistance. Fortunately, police reported that no officers or civilians were injured in the incident.
While details surrounding the larger criminal network tied to Delgado-Bamudez have yet to be confirmed, authorities have not shared when the crash occurred or the location where the suspect is currently being held.
On a related note, the police department’s Facebook page has seen a flood of comments—over 500 and still counting—on this unusual event. Among the remarks, one user mused, “And he still tried to run away!!!” Another quipped, “Georgia is a different breed,” emphasizing the risks of evading law enforcement in that area. Various commenters added humor to the situation, with one jokingly remarking about the sound the crash made, likening it to a Queen song: “Did I say that, or did the car and glass crunching sound like ‘We Will Rock You’?”
