DUI charges against the sister of Nima Momeni, who allegedly killed Cash App founder Bob Lee, have been dropped by the San Francisco District Attorney “pending further investigation.”
Hazar Momeni, 38, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, failure to drive within lane and failure to provide proof of financial responsibility after crashing his car near San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood last month.
But the district attorney dropped each charge, at least for the time being.
“The charges against Mr. Momeni have been dismissed, but the investigation continues and charges may be filed at a later date,” the district attorney's office said in a statement.
The agency is pending formal charges pending Momeni's toxicology report from the medical examiner, but stressed that this step is routine in situations like this.
“Due to delays in receiving toxicology reports, discharges where a blood draw for toxicology is required is very common and not uncommon,” the DA's office said.
Momeni reportedly holds the key to her brother's motive for Lee's murder, after allegedly crashing his white Mercedes coupe into two parked cars, police and witnesses on November 27. arrested. he told NBC Bay Area.
The newspaper said two firefighters saw her vaping from a Whit-It cartridge while behind the wheel, and police found two canisters in her car at the time of the crash. .
Momeni, who also uses her husband's surname Eliasnia, is friends with Lee and was with her the night she was killed in April.
Her brother was arrested on suspicion of Ms Lee's murder and is accused of stabbing her to death because of his relationship with her sister.
She and Lee may have been romantically involved and reportedly frequented underground sex and drug parties with San Francisco's elite.
Prosecutors said Nima Momeni confronted Lee about her sister and asked her if they had been “doing drugs or doing anything inappropriate” together.
