'Dune' Actor Javier Bardem Claims Trump Displays 'Toxic Masculinity'

Javier Bardem Critiques Leadership and Toxic Masculinity

Spanish actor Javier Bardem has expressed strong criticism towards President Donald Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and President Vladimir Putin, accusing them of contributing to a “culture of toxic masculinity” that leads to violence against women and countless other victims.

This latest outburst occurred during a press conference at the Cannes Film Festival, where he was promoting his new film. He highlighted a disturbing trend in Spain, claiming that “on average, two women are murdered each month by ex-husbands or ex-lovers” due to this issue, suggesting that it is a broader problem that extends to Trump as well.

Bardem remarked, “We’ve normalized it in a way. It’s terrible. Are we crazy? Women are being killed because some men feel entitled to control them.” He further criticized the leaders he mentioned, saying, “These big men feel they can threaten others while boasting about their power.”

Continuing, he emphasized the severe consequences of such toxic behavior, noting that it has led to thousands of deaths. “We need to confront this situation, and thankfully, the conversation is starting,” he added.

This isn’t Bardem’s first time criticizing Trump; earlier this month, he claimed that the president was under scrutiny for “abusing women.” During the same press conference, Bardem indicated that changes were happening within Hollywood regarding those who get ostracized for supporting the Palestinian cause. Although he couldn’t confirm the presence of a blacklist, he mentioned that he’s received global offers, signaling a shift in perspective.

“Thanks to younger generations, awareness is increasing about the dire situations we’re witnessing through our screens. This is unacceptable,” he said, reiterating his belief that the individuals behind such blacklists will eventually face repercussions.

Bardem has openly taken a stand against Israel following the Hamas attacks and continues to advocate for the Palestinian cause without condemning the actions of Hamas. He has also been vocal against the US military’s involvement in conflicts he describes as unjust, denouncing it as an “illegal war based on lies.” At this year’s Oscars, he wore pins promoting peace and a free Palestine, symbolizing his ongoing activism.
