Newly Declassified Document Reveals Controversial Intelligence Findings
Recently, Sen. Chuck Grassley released a 29-page document known as the Durham Annex. Surprisingly, this important disclosure hasn’t garnered much attention from major news outlets, even though it holds significant revelations related to the Russiagate investigation.
The Durham Annex isn’t just speculation or another political narrative; it comprises sensitive information, internal notes, and confidential emails that have been collected over the years under the guise of “source protection.”
One of the more shocking revelations is that the FBI allegedly overlooked evidence in 2015 and 2016 pointing to foreign governments potentially colluding with Clinton rather than Trump.
The contents of these documents seem to confirm what many have suspected: the narrative around Trump’s collusion with Russia was not just politically charged but was orchestrated by the Clinton Campaign. This framing was pushed by sympathetic figures within U.S. intelligence and was ultimately backed by top officials in the Obama administration.
Moreover, the documents highlight a strategy from the Clinton campaign to instill distrust towards Trump, creating false narratives linking him to Vladimir Putin. This intelligence was considered credible enough by the CIA to warrant discussion with President Barack Obama, stemming from foreign surveillance activities concerning American politicians.
Unraveling the Cover-Up
The Durham Annex introduces a codename, “T1,” associated with foreign intelligence assets who intercepted Russian cyber operations targeting various American entities including the Clinton campaign and George Soros’ Open Society Foundation. T1’s intelligence report included an in-depth analysis of U.S. political strategies.
While the true identity of T1 remains classified, substantial circumstantial evidence suggests ties to Dutch intelligence, which reportedly monitored Russian operations as early as 2014. Regardless of the source, U.S. agencies regarded the information from T1 as reliable.
John Brennan, then director of the CIA, briefed President Obama, Vice President Biden, FBI Director James Comey, and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper on these findings. The briefings included a memo indicating that Hillary Clinton had personally consented to invoking the narrative connecting Trump to Russian electoral interference.
Interestingly, a memo from 2016 regarding Russia’s surveillance of Soros’ Open Society Foundation laid bare Clinton’s strategy to leverage scandals surrounding Trump, leaning into Russia’s purported preference for him. This crafted the basis for what later became known as the Trump-Russia Collusion Hoax.
Intelligence Agency Interference
The CIA characterized its intelligence as “sensitive and reliable.” Yet, the FBI dismissed it, arguing it relied heavily on hearsay and could be exaggerated or misinterpreted due to translation inaccuracies.
This skepticism may seem logical—if the FBI had applied the same critical lens towards Steele’s documents. However, they instead accepted those questionable materials without thorough verification, using them to justify a surveillance warrant.
The contradictions in the findings run deeper than mere analysis. The Durham Annex indicates that the FBI ignored pertinent evidence from 2015 and 2016. It’s as if they were comfortable siding with Clinton.
One 2016 memo detailed a foreign intelligence operative meeting with Clinton’s associates regarding a “plan,” driven by instructions from foreign heads of state.
A Lack of Trust and Accountability
This document implies a coordinated effort involving political, bureaucratic, and media institutions, all working to undermine opponents using questionable information. Information the CIA deemed informative was ignored by the FBI and overlooked by the media while being implemented by Clinton’s operatives.
This isn’t merely a partisan oversight; it’s revealing the depth of institutional complicity in what has been termed the Russian Zett deception. Nearly a decade after the initial leak of Clinton’s emails and years following Trump’s unexpected win, the ramifications of this scandal are just beginning to unfold, seriously damaging public trust in the FBI and the broader intelligence community.
