Dylan Dreyer and her estranged husband, Brian Fischela, seemed to be growing apart even before their recent announcement of their separation.
Before confirming this on July 18, Dreyer had mentioned that their communication mostly happened through texts due to their hectic work lives. “We don’t see each other very often because of our schedules, but we always send texts,” the 43-year-old “Today” co-host stated. She added, “It might even be easier to have important conversations through text; you can express your thoughts without being interrupted.”
Dreyer also pointed out that they had managed to turn their situation into something beneficial. “It’s not impersonal at all,” she said. “We know each other’s tones well enough, and we really accomplish a lot through texting!”
Ultimately, the couple announced their separation after almost 13 years of marriage. “For years, I’ve shared my family’s story with you, including the good and the bad,” she expressed on Instagram. “I’m grateful for all your support. Brian and I decided to go our separate ways a few months ago.” She noted that while they started as friends, they would continue to be close and co-parent their three sons with mutual respect.
The couple, who have three sons—Calvin, 8, Oliver, 5, and Russell, 3—are reportedly living together while navigating co-parenting. Although they haven’t finalized a divorce yet, sources mentioned that Fischela is currently focusing on family, taking time away from his freelance photography work.
They recently spent time together in Lake Tahoe, California, where Dreyer participated in a celebrity golf event with Fischela acting as her caddy. Dreyer shared a moment from the tournament on social media, reflecting on the enjoyable events off the golf course, like boat rides and reconnecting with friends.
The couple also joined a celebrity karaoke contest, finishing in second place with their performance of “Love Shack.” Dreyer shared the fun experience on her social media, expressing her joy about the evening.
Dreyer and Fischela tied the knot in October 2012. Just last year, Dreyer had celebrated their 12th anniversary with a sweet post about their life together, recalling a lighthearted moment when Fischela pointed out that her anniversary post was similar to one he had shared two years prior.
However, in May, fans began to speculate about issues in their marriage when Fischela stopped posting on social media. Although those concerns were momentarily eased when Dreyer posted pictures of their family during Mother’s Day, some lingering doubts remained.
On the recent episode of “Today,” Dreyer appeared without her wedding ring, which added to the ongoing conversation surrounding their relationship.
