AJ Brown’s Frustration: Coach Sirianni Responds
In a recent moment of exasperation, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed inquiries about star receiver AJ Brown during a press conference.
Sirianni expressed his fatigue with the ongoing discussions surrounding Brown’s comments. “Folks, I’m almost done answering questions on this,” he stated, referencing the player’s recent remarks. He went on to affirm, “He’s been working hard and is a big part of our game plan and will continue to do so moving forward. He’s been working like crazy while he’s been here, so we’re excited to have him.”
During a Madden gaming session, Brown was asked by Junkie Rondo about his well-being—both personally and professionally. Laughing, he playfully responded, “No,” then spoke more seriously about his family and the challenges of answering such questions. “Where were you? Well, my family is close, yeah. What else? No. … This is a show. … You’re having a hard time asking, ‘How was it?’, bro,” he commented.
Despite the Eagles maintaining a solid 7-2 record, Brown’s lack of scoring has become a central point of frustration. In a recent game against the Green Bay Packers, where the Eagles won 10-7, Brown caught two passes early on, but couldn’t secure another catch until the final offensive play, which ended in an incomplete pass.
Sirianni was probed about whether Brown’s off-field remarks about performance were becoming a distraction for the team. He dismissed the idea, insisting, “No, I don’t think so. All you can see is your interactions and how they go about their work on a day-to-day basis. You guys don’t see that. No, it’s business as usual.”
However, it’s clear Brown is not fully satisfied with his role in the Eagles’ offense, regardless of their success. There were even whispers he might ask for a trade as the deadline approached, but it seems he will remain part of the team for the season. Notably, he has reached over 1,000 receiving yards for three consecutive seasons and has consistently scored at least seven touchdowns in each of those years.
This season, Brown has recorded 31 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns across eight games, placing him on track for his lowest career performance. In his final year with the Tennessee Titans, he managed only 869 yards over 13 games.
Reflecting on a recent game moment, Brown humorously mentioned how good things happen when he’s “touched,” revealing his son’s excitement for seeing his father’s digital accomplishments in the game where he achieved significant stats.
In a candid moment during the stream, he shared some light-hearted advice for fantasy football managers who might be feeling let down due to his performance this season: “If you’ve drawn me into a fantasy, get rid of me.”
As the Eagles gear up for a crucial Sunday Night Football showdown against the Detroit Lions in Week 11, all eyes will be on how they manage Brown’s ongoing frustration amidst their playoff aspirations.
