Eagles hosts rip Jalen Hurts after NFL playoff debacle

Jalen Hurts felt what it's like to be on the wrong side of the brotherhood.

The NBC Sports Philadelphia crew ripped the Eagles' quarterback and team to shreds after Monday's brutal 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in the wild-card round.

Hurts was a far cry from the MVP candidate he was in Tampa, completing 25 of 35 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown and an interception.

He also failed to score on the push during his two-point attempt.

“No. No. 1 on the jersey, No. 1 off the field, that's where he goes.” NBC Sports Philadelphia host Michael Barkan said as Hurts ran into the locker room.. “I don't care what the passer ratings are, he had a bad game tonight. He didn't play. He was terrible.”

Hearts and the Eagles have fallen apart, and the implosion could cost head coach Nick Sirani his job.

This season, Philadelphia started 10-1, culminating in a thrilling overtime victory over the Bills in Week 12, after which the Eagles played much like the Panthers for the rest of the season.

Philadelphia has lost six of its last seven games, including Monday's loss, in its bid to return to the Super Bowl.

“I've seen teams that want it and teams that don't want it. The Eagles didn't qualify for the playoffs at this point. This is an epic slide from 10-1 to now with one win. “This is absolutely terrible,” said NBC's Barrett Brooks. “This is the worst breakdown I've ever seen in my life.”

The Eagles' decline is one of the most surprising developments in recent NFL history. The Eagles went from being arguably the best team in the NFL for a year and a half to being stalled by the champions of arguably the worst division, the NFC South. in the NFL this season.

The Eagles' slide began with three straight losses to the 49ers, Cowboys, and Seahawks, with all losses being creditable to their opponents.

Anxiety crept in when the Eagles lost control of the NFC East with a home loss to the Cardinals in Week 17 and were a no-show against the Giants in Week 18.

“We saw it coming. We didn't want to hear it, we didn't want to hear it,” Brooks said. “The truth is, this team didn't make the playoffs. This team wasn't ready to make the playoffs. This team is playing the worst football I've seen in the last seven weeks right now.” “I was doing that.”

On Monday, the Eagles briefly held the lead, but Hurts was unable to lead a sustained drive without injured star wide receiver AJ Brown, and a leaky defense allowed several long scores.

Hurts was an MVP candidate at the beginning of the season, but as the Eagles declined, he didn't look like the same quarterback down the stretch.

The Eagles are currently in the offseason with changes looming, including the retirement of star offensive lineman Jason Kelce.

“What we need here is blame, because if we've lost six of the last seven games, including the last game before we go home for the winter, something is wrong,'' said the excited Vulcan, moving his hands and pointing his fingers as he launched into a furious rant. threw up. “Something is wrong.”
