Still, former NFL quarterback and current NBC analyst Chris Sims isn’t satisfied with the former Oklahoma and Alabama standout.

“I have a lot of respect for Jalen Hurts, but I also think Jalen Hurts is like the most overrated player in football,” Sims told PHX during Super Bowl week. He spoke on the Cardinals Podcast. “That’s me. That’s me, I know I’m wrong, I feel pretty terrible about that comment.

“He’s quarterbacking an All-Star team. They have the best O-line in football, right? They have probably the best wide receiver duo in football, right? . I just think, “If you put any other quarterback in Philadelphia, you put Kyler Murray there, you think, “Damn, Kyler is amazing. Is he the MVP of football?”

Sims explained that he believes the analysis about Hearts is missing that point. He said Murray “is in the class of Jalen Hurts in every way when he’s working on his game.”

Murray, who plays for the Hurts and Arizona Cardinals, both have similar numbers when healthy. Neither had a season with more than 4,000 passing yards or 30 touchdown passes. Murray missed part of the 2022 and 2023 seasons with a torn ACL.

However, Murray hasn’t had the same postseason success as Hurts. The quarterback is expected to remain healthy through the 2024 season.
