Philadelphia Eagles’ Jayrix Hunt Nearly Hits Umpire in Celebration

During a tight game at Lambeau Field, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jayrix Hunt almost unintentionally clocked an umpire while celebrating a tackle in the team’s 10-7 victory against the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.

In the third quarter, with the Eagles ahead 3-0, Hunt charged into the backfield and brought down running back Josh Jacobs, resulting in a loss of four yards. Excited, he turned around and raised his fist high in celebration—not realizing an official was approaching. Fortunately, he ducked just in time, narrowly avoiding a collision.

Had he connected with the referee, it’s likely Hunt would have been ejected from the game. The second-year player ended up with five tackles, one sack, and two tackles for loss, helping his team secure the win.

Post-game, Hunt expressed his thrill, particularly after witnessing the close call on the big screen. “We did something similar in the Super Bowl last year,” he noted, jokingly suggesting that officials should steer clear when he’s on a high after a play.

The game itself was scoreless at halftime. The first points came from a 39-yard field goal from Jake Elliott, putting the Eagles up 3-0. In the fourth quarter, Jalen Hurts connected with DeVonta Smith for a 36-yard touchdown pass, extending the lead to 10-0.

Although the Packers managed to close the gap with a touchdown run from Jacobs, they were unable to tie the game after kicker Brandon McManus missed a 64-yard field goal attempt. The Eagles’ defense held strong, pushing their record to 7-2, while the Packers fell to 5-3-1. The Eagles are set to face the Detroit Lions next Sunday.
