The NFL continues to slowly add streaming-only matchups.
The league announced Tuesday that the Eagles’ 2024 NFL season opener in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, Sept. 6, will be broadcast exclusively on NBC’s Peacock streaming service.
It’s still unclear who the Eagles’ opponent will be at that point, but Packers president Mark Murphy recently indicated the NFL will decide between Green Bay and Cleveland.
This is the second game of the 2024 NFL regular season, with the Super Bowl champion Chiefs scheduled to host the league opener the night before.
Last season, Peacock spent $110 million to broadcast an exclusive NFL playoff game that ended up being the Chiefs vs. Dolphins, but NBC Sports President Rick Cordella said customers would not want to turn to the sports streaming service. He told the Post there was a “halo effect” to register. And stay there for scripted entertainment.
Peacock’s programming includes the entire library of “Saturday Night Live,” “The Office” and “Yellowstone,” plus original series like “Bel-Air” and “Poker Face.”
“You more or less get kids in the door with football and expose them to the library, which we think is one of the best, if not the best, in streaming.” Cordella said in January.
“It’s not just this football game. When you see reasonable people complaining, they realize it’s about more than a one-off NFL streamer.”

Elsewhere in sports, Peacock has exclusive English Premier League games, Big Ten football and basketball, premium live events from WWE, as well as nearly everything broadcast on NBC, including Sunday Night Football and the Olympics. It’s being broadcast simultaneously.
NFL Wild Card Round games that aired on Peacock last season will be broadcast on Amazon starting next year, the league announced Tuesday.
Additionally, several regular season games are broadcast exclusively on ESPN+ each year.
