Eagles player dismisses possible suspension over contentious ‘tush push’ tactic

Should Eagles Tush Push be Banned? | Breakfast Bowl

The Green Bay Packers have put forth a proposal to outlaw “tush pushes,” which has led to some hurt feelings among the Philadelphia Eagles. Craig Carton, Danny Perkins, and Mark Schleles engage in a discussion about whether this tactic should be banned.

NFL owners are set to revisit this controversial issue at their league meeting on Wednesday. Last month, a vote was held regarding a proposal to ban plays that have become a staple for the Eagles in recent years. The Eagles weighed in on the debate surrounding this short-yardage play.

Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown chimed in, saying, “I’m not really worried about it. It’s just one yard.” Meanwhile, lineman Jordan Mailata echoed similar sentiments, remarking, “They’re dominating. I think it’ll happen regardless of the push.” He humorously added, “I don’t really like that name for banning it; it sounds a bit silly to me.”

As discussions continue, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni stated, “We’ll see how this unfolds. We haven’t spent too much time worrying about it. It’ll all be public by Wednesday.” Sirianni added that they are primarily focused on their game plan, not on whether the tush push will still be part of it or not.

At a previous league meeting, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie praised quarterback Jalen Hurts, stating that Hurts effectively describes the tush push as a “precise play,” attributing its success to daily execution. Interestingly, ESPN noted that the tush push accounted for only about 0.28% of total plays last season.
