NFL teams are distancing themselves from ads that were splashed around Philadelphia calling Vice President Kamala Harris the team's “official candidate.”
“We are aware of false political ads in circulation and are working with our advertising partners to remove them,” it said. Eagles X account posted on monday.
The ads, which appeared at 16th Avenue and Spring Garden Boulevard, 18th Avenue and JFK Avenue, and 34th Avenue and Walnut Street, show Harris wearing an Eagles helmet and jersey and holding a football.
The URL at the bottom (which belongs to the team's actual website) provides nonpartisan voting information for Pennsylvania and New Jersey residents.
Some claim that the artwork is the work of street artist Winston Tseng. Satireizing brands to highlight social issuesHowever, he did not take credit for the Eagles poster.
in Statement to NBC10Intersection Media, which owns the advertising space, said it was working to remove the posters.
“We are aware that several of our bus stops in Philadelphia have been vandalized and the paid advertising copy at each stop has been replaced with unauthorized copy,” the spokesperson wrote. “While our bus stops typically have locks that prevent unauthorized copy from being placed by anyone other than Intersection staff, occasionally individuals find a way to unlock the advertising boxes and insert unauthorized copy. In this case, the unauthorized copy alludes to the Philadelphia Eagles' endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.”
“Eagles and Intersection confirm that they have no involvement in the creation or posting of this unauthorized copy, and Intersection staff will remove the ad as soon as possible.”
