The birds will continue to fly high for at least another week.
On Sunday, January 26th, the Philadelphia Eagles will host the Washington Commanders in the 2024-25 NFC Championship Game at Lincoln Financial Field.
The upcoming contest will be the Eagles' second NFC Championship appearance in the last three years. The last time they made it to the semifinals was in January 2023, when they defeated the 49ers 31-7.
Heading into this matchup, Sirianni's team is coming off a heartbreaking 28-22 victory over the Rams in the divisional round. Jalen Hurts and the dominant Saquon Barkley, who scored two breakthrough touchdown runs, held the lead throughout the fourth quarter, but Los Angeles remained close during a heated, snowy game.
The Washington Commanders, their opponents in the NFC Championship, shocked the world in their divisional round showdown with the Detroit Lions, ranked No. 1 in the NFC. Entering the game as the underdogs, Jaden Daniels, Zach Ertz, and the club did everything right and pulled off a stunning 45-31 upset.
“It's a surreal moment,” Daniels said in the postgame interview.

About the Eagles vs. Commanders matchup
The NFC East rivals met twice during the 2024 regular season.
In the first game on November 14th, the Eagles won 26-18 at home. The game looked dire for the Birds until the fourth quarter when Barkley scored an explosive 20-point touchdown run, but Barkley scored two touchdown runs and Hurts had one. In addition, it ensured victory.
Washington got revenge on Philadelphia in their second matchup on December 22nd. Hurts was injured at that time and Kenny Pickett took his place. The formidable backup completed 14 of 24 passes for 143 yards and one touchdown. But it was Jaden Daniels' five touchdown passes that led the Commanders to a 36-33 victory. Just like in the first matchup, the fourth quarter was the deciding factor. In this game, Washington scored 22 points to seal the deal.
