Former Volkswagen CEO Winterkorn faces trial over diesel emissions cheating

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) — Volkswagen Group's former CEO Martin Winterkorn went on trial Tuesday on charges of fraud and market manipulation in connection with a corporate scandal in which Volkswagen used fraudulent software to help millions of cars cheat emissions tests and emit high levels of harmful pollutants.
