Edan Alexander shares an emotional conversation with his mother Yael right after being freed from Hamas.

Emotional footage has emerged showing a mother, Jael Alexander, speaking joyfully with her son shortly after his release from Hamas captivity in Gaza. Her son, a 21-year-old sergeant in the Israeli Defense Forces, had been held by the group for more than 19 months.

In a heartfelt exchange, Jael told him, “You are strong. You are safe. You are at home. We will see each other soon. I love you.”

Amidst the joy, Jael excitedly exclaimed as the phone call was handed to her, “Oh, what a god!” She continued, reassuringly repeating, “You’re fine, you’re safe, you’re going home. I love you.”

The young man, Edan Alexander, who is a U.S. citizen from New Jersey, was handed over to the Red Cross and then to the Israeli army, returning to Israel on Monday night, as reported by the IDF. This marks him as the last known American held hostage by Hamas, which captured numerous individuals during the attacks on October 7, 2023.

This is still a developing story, and updates are expected.
