Educator Alleged to Have Celebrated the Killing of Charlie Kirk

Teacher on Leave After Controversial Post About Assassinated Political Figure

A high school art teacher in Oskaloosa, Iowa, is under scrutiny for allegedly celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA.

Matthew Kargol, the teacher in question, has been placed on administrative leave following the start of an investigation, as confirmed by school officials in a press release shared by local news on Thursday.

“We became aware of the post at 5:15 PM on September 10 and acted promptly to address it overnight. We’ll keep you informed if further reporting is necessary,” the statement noted.

On Wednesday, Representative Marian Net Millermeek (R-IA) shared a screenshot of the post, which reportedly said, “1 Nazi Down.”

“I am disturbed by a post from an Oskaloosa teacher who refers to him as a Nazi, celebrating the assassination of Charlie Kirk,” she stated.

Kirk was shot during a speech event at Utah Valley University, according to reports. Shortly after his assassination, many on social media reacted with expressions of happiness, as noted by some news outlets.

Before his death, Kirk had raised concerns about the increasing “assassination culture” he perceived on the political left.

In the aftermath of this tragic event, a commentator from Breitbart News remarked that Kirk’s assassination could significantly impact American politics, potentially leading to more stringent measures against extreme leftist views.

The commentator also suggested that if such a tragedy were to happen under a Democratic administration, the focus would likely shift toward gun control. However, the response would be starkly different under a Republican administration, emphasizing a tough stance on law enforcement.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump recently announced he would posthumously honor Kirk with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, a notable civilian award in the United States, during a 9/11 memorial event at the Pentagon.
