BOSTON — Egor Dëmin Injured in Overtime Loss

Egor Dëmin exited Tuesday’s overtime defeat against Boston due to a contusion on his right leg.

After the game, the Nets guard seemed unconcerned about the injury, stating, “I’ll be good. I mean, it’s nothing serious, so I’ll be ready to go.”

Dëmin left the court during the first half and did not return.

The incident occurred when he appeared to collide legs with Paul George while trying to defend against his drive, which left the Russian guard limping during Brooklyn’s next possession.

He checked out with 2:22 remaining in the half, limped to the locker room, and was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game.

“I just got kneed in the muscle/bone area… it feels better than it did right then. I think I’ll be ready in a couple of days,” Dëmin explained. “It was when [George] was driving by me, we kind of hit each other’s legs.”

Even though the Nets ultimately lost, they showed significant improvement defensively, holding the Celtics—who are known for their sharp shooting—to 11 for 41 from beyond the arc.

“It’s just one game. I don’t know. Percentages come and go,” Jordi Fernández remarked. “I think we executed our coverages well and played a pretty complete game. I don’t read too much into the numbers at this stage since we’ve only played four games. It’s all about improving and adjusting.”

He added, “So, I’m pleased they shot 26 percent. We contested most of their threes. Even with solid contests, teams that shoot well can still make those shots. So, overall, I’m content with our defense, regardless of the outcome.”

This matchup marked the first time the Nets faced Boston since the Celtics traded Jaylen Brown, a significant move that altered the dynamics in the Eastern Conference.

Brown now plays in Philadelphia alongside stars like LeBron James, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey, but he could have ended up in Brooklyn.

The Nets based their decision on talent assessment, while Boston reviewed multiple offers around the league before choosing the 76ers.
