Egypt: At Least 6 Dead, 9 Injured After Tourist Submarine Sinks Off Coast

At least six people have been killed, and nine have been seriously injured after a tourist submarine sinks off the Egyptian coast.

According to Associated PressSix people died after a submarine carrying 45 Russian tourists sank from the beach at Hargada's Red Sea resort.

The submarine reportedly belonged to the Sinbad Hotel in Hugada. Around 10am on Thursday it embarked on a regularly planned reef tour, sank about half a mile from the beach.

The Russian Consulate announced that rescued people were taken to a local hospital and “currently in stable condition.”

The cause of the submarine's charge is currently unknown.
