Egyptian archaeologists unearth treasures from ancient mining complex

Egyptian officials recently announced the discovery of a 3,000-year-old mining complex with ancient homes, workshops and even bath debris.

Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Bone reported that excavations were carried out in Jabal Skali, located southwest of Marsa Alam, the Governor of Red Sea. According to a Facebook post released on February 25th.

The statement explained that some of the discoveries were remains of a mine camp that date back three thousand years ago. Includes “Complete factory remnants for extracting gold from Quartz Veins.”

The site is located near the Scaligold mine, which opened in 2009, and authorities noted that the excavated artifacts have been moved to “safe areas” away from the activities of the modern mine.

In a statement, the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council pointed out the importance of the project, “expanding understanding of the technology that ancient Egyptians use to extract gold from rocks, [helped historians gain] To better understand the social, religious and economic lives of miners in industrial cities in the eastern deserts throughout the era. ”
