Eli Manning admits he finally took the NYC subway — years after his playing career ended

For anyone living in or visiting New York City, riding the subway is a rite of passage.

Sure, if you spent 16 seasons playing football in the Big Apple, you probably jumped on the train at least a few times.

Not Eli Manning.

The former Giants quarterback shared a photo of himself at a subway station with X this week with the caption, “My first time riding the subway!”

Understandably, fans and New Yorkers alike were shocked.

“You've lived in the New York City area for 20 years and this is your first time riding the subway? That's absurd,” Jake Usman wrote on the platform.

“This is the ultimate proof that the Giants are New Jersey's team,” joked Politico's Jeff Coltin.

“Congestion pricing is working. This middle-aged man from New Jersey takes public transit,” wrote an X user named Matt Janiga.

“Sometimes rich people forget just how rich they are.” @JetsMuse wrote.

It's unclear if this was really the two-time Super Bowl champion's first subway ride, as the social media version of Manning can be a bit of a troll, as he proved this week in his spat with Tom Brady. is.

On Monday, Brady shared a photo of himself holding a fish while soaking up the sun. Manning seized the opportunity to share a side-by-side shot of his much larger catch on Instagram with the caption: “Cute minnow, Tom!”

“You even use your helmet to catch that thing?” Brady quipped, recalling the Super Bowl game between the Patriots and Giants at the end of the 2007 season.
