Giants Meet Again
Somewhere, “Dan in Warwick” is likely smiling.
It’s been a decade since WFAN callers famously asked Mike Francesa if the New York Giants and San Francisco Giants ever crossed paths, thanks to their shared name. This weekend, that humorous idea came to life. The Giants faced off against the Mets, and stars Logan Webb and Matt Chapman dropped by to meet former Pro Bowl lineman Sean O’Hara and Eli Manning, promoting “The Eli Manning Show.”
Manning shared a tongue-in-cheek video on his X account, saying, “Well, we’re back to our annual Giants Ganz meetup. This is a tradition here when San Francisco plays the Mets. Naturally, all Giants players gather for a bit of brunch before the game.”
This event went viral back when it first happened in 2015.
There was a time when someone asked if there would ever be a gathering of franchises when San Francisco came to New York. A bewildered Francesa engaged in a spirited rant, perhaps a bit too animated for some listeners.
“Do you think they’re like brothers or something since they’re both called Giants?” a longtime WFAN host quipped. “That’s possibly the oddest question I’ve encountered in ages.”
With a chuckle, Francesa then joked about a fictitious picnic and games. “They have a big relay race and a huge raffle, and then they meet for breakfast the next day and take a different route.”
While there were no raffles or relay races this time, they did enjoy breakfast together. Webb, Chapman, Manning, and O’Hara shared orange juice and morning fare during the get-together.
A video on the New York Giants’ social media captured the moment. The four players entered the room, chuckling as they remarked, “They’re really together!”
