Elijah Blue Allman's wife Marieangela King responds to overdose incident

Marienguera King, the estranged spouse of Cher’s son Elijah Bleu Allman, spoke out following his reported overdose this past weekend.

On Sunday, it was reported that Elijah was taken to a hospital in Joshua Tree, California, after an overdose the day prior. Although the specific substances involved weren’t confirmed, he remarked, “I’m lucky to survive.”

King, who filed for divorce from Elijah in April, released a statement addressing his overdose on Sunday.

“It’s true that Elijah has faced personal challenges before, but one constant is his unwavering loyalty to those he loves,” she stated.

She went on to say, “He continues to struggle, but it’s important to recognize that he approaches this from a place of strength, rather than defeat. Despite how others may perceive his journey, the truth is that Elijah is focused and deeply committed to living sincerely and with purpose.”

King emphasized her steadfast support for him, expressing, “I want to make it clear that my support is unwavering and stems from a deep respect for who he is and how he continues to show up.”

The couple was married for 11 years before King initiated divorce proceedings, citing irreconcilable differences and marking their separation as March 31, 2025.

In her divorce request, King sought $6,000 monthly in temporary spousal support and referenced their shared vehicle, a 2017 Toyota Prius.

Reflecting on their time together, she remarked, “We’ve had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with cherished memories. I know we will remain friends, and Elijah will always have a special place in my heart.”

The separation followed a period where Cher, aged 79, sought guardianship over Elijah, claiming he was unable to manage his finances due to serious mental health and substance abuse issues.

Cher also alleged that King negatively impacted their son and reported ongoing efforts to secure help for him.

King accused Cher of attempting to enlist men to coax Elijah into treatment.

In the following months, Cher’s bid for guardianship was rejected.

Elijah, the son of the late rock star Greg Allman, has faced substance issues since childhood. He had previously shared that he began using drugs at the age of 11, recalling near misses where he truly felt his life was at risk.

As of now, Cher has not made any public comments regarding Elijah’s overdose, though sources indicate she is concentrating on ensuring her son’s well-being and seeking the necessary help for him.
