Michigan Senate Republican candidate Mike Rogers' latest ad highlights Rep. Elissa Slotkin's (D-MI) push for electric vehicles.
“I live on a dirt road and there are no charging stations,” Slotkin said in the ad, explaining why he doesn't own an electric car.
“Well, that's not true. There's also an EV [electric vehicle] “There's a charging station just nine minutes away from the house she inherited and claims to live in,” the ad's narrator counters.
And Slotkin argues that no one should be forced to buy an electric car.
“This is insulting and Slotkin is lying. She voted to force the EV mandate last September and voted to keep it in place again just three weeks ago,” the narrator says.
Slotkin voted against the Automobile Choice Act in September 2023. The law would amend a federal law that blocks states from eliminating sales of gasoline engines and prevents the Environmental Protection Agency from issuing challenges banning such vehicles.
“Mr. Slotkin has extorted thousands of dollars from foreign agents in China, and the EV mandate she voted for will extort $200,000 from Michiganders,” the ad's narrator says.
