Ella Langley is likely beaming with joy right now.
Her anthem “Choosin’ Texas” has just solidified its place at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, marking a whopping 14 weeks in that position. This achievement ties her with two legendary tracks.
Langley, at 27, described this milestone as “insane” in an Instagram Stories post right after reaching this ranking.
The country ballad first hit number one in February. It now holds the record for the most weeks at number one on the Hot 100 for a woman without a male counterpart, joining Mariah Carey’s “We Belong Together” and Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
“Choosin’ Texas” has also become Carey’s second-longest-running hit on the chart, alongside her holiday classic “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
Langley made her entrance into the country music world nearly ten years ago, releasing her debut album, “The Hangover,” in 2024.
That album received immediate recognition, featuring hits like “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Weren’t for the Wind,” both of which soared to number one on country charts.
Her follow-up release, “Dandelion,” debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 200 back in April.
Not only did “Choosin’ Texas” dominate the Billboard Hot 100, but Langley also made history as the first female artist to simultaneously lead the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts.
The inspiration behind “Dandelion” came from the resilient plant that thrives in tough conditions.
As Langley shared, “I learned that dandelion tea is actually a natural detox for the liver.” She noted that the name “Dandelion,” following “The Hangover,” felt like a natural fit.
“I’ve never invested more of myself into a project—it turned out beautifully,” she reflected. “It’s about self-discovery, making mistakes, and understanding that these experiences are part of life.”

Langley took on the role of executive producer for the album, co-writing “Choosin’ Texas” alongside Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor.
