Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi have reportedly fled the United States after President-elect Donald Trump successfully returned to the White House in the 2024 presidential election.
But before the election cycle, DeGeneres claimed on her “Ellen's Last Stand Up” tour that she was kicked out of Hollywood “for being mean.”
While preparing for his blockbuster Netflix show earlier this year, the comedian traveled across the United States and told a live audience in Santa Rosa, California, that he had no intention of continuing his life in show business.

“This is the last time you'll ever see me. Once my Netflix special is over, it's over,” she told the crowd. According to SF Gate. “Thank you for always caring! Please let me know what's been going on with me since you last saw me. I have chickens.”
DeGeneres added, “Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business for being mean. Next time I'll get kicked out for being old. The triple crown of old, gay, and mean.”
During an open mic night, she mentioned how her perspective on fame has changed since the beginning of her career.
“Oh yeah, I got kicked out of show business for being mean. Next time I'm getting kicked out for being old. Old, gay, mean, triple crown winner.”
“I used to say, 'I don't care what people say about me,' and I just realized that I said that at the height of my popularity,” DeGeneres said. “I’m a lot of things, but I’m not mean.”

The longtime comedian was rocked by accusations of a toxic workplace and allegations of sexually inappropriate behavior by ousted producers on her show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show. . One producer was also reportedly at the center of complaints about poor work culture.
These allegations ultimately led to the show ending in 2021 after 19 seasons. The final episode will be broadcast in May 2022.

If I had finished the show, people would have been pleasantly surprised to find out that I was a kind person.”
