Ellen DeGeneres backs Rosie O'Donnell as Donald Trump aims to revoke her US citizenship

Ellen DeGeneres Backs Rosie O’Donnell Amid Trump’s Comments

Ellen DeGeneres has publicly supported Rosie O’Donnell after President Trump hinted at revoking her US citizenship.

The former talk show host, who is 67, shared her thoughts on Instagram over the weekend, calling Trump “a dangerous old soulless man” while praising O’Donnell, who is 63.

“Good for you,” DeGeneres wrote, including screenshots of Trump’s post and O’Donnell’s response to his remarks. DeGeneres, who recently relocated to England with her wife, seemed to resonate with the situation.

Over the weekend, Trump expressed outrage, claiming he was “seriously considering” stripping O’Donnell of her citizenship.

The digital feud started after Trump labeled O’Donnell “a threat to humanity” in a heated post on social media.

“I’m seriously considering taking away her citizenship because Rosie O’Donnell isn’t in the best interests of our great nation,” Trump stated. He added, “If they want her, they should stay in the wonderful country of Ireland. God bless America!”

O’Donnell currently resides in the suburbs of Dublin and moved there with her child in January after Trump’s election loss to Kamala Harris.

In March, O’Donnell shared that she and her child are non-binary and autistic, which adds another layer to her public persona.

Over the weekend, she responded to Trump’s comments on Instagram, stating, “Hey Donald – are you rattling again? 18 years later, I still have no rent in your crumbling brain.” She accompanied her post with photos of Trump with Epstein.

O’Donnell continued, “You call me a threat to humanity, but I’m all you fear: a loud woman is a strange woman. A mother who tells the truth was burned by an American from the countryside.” She criticized Trump for his values and emphasized teaching her children to question authority.

The legal grounds on which Trump could strip O’Donnell—or anyone—of their citizenship remain unclear. Current laws protect American citizenship, meaning that individuals cannot lose their status even if they obtain citizenship in another country.
