Ellen DeGeneres has recently offered her fans a rare insight into her new life in the UK. This peek comes from a video montage featuring her wife, Portia de Rossi, as she rides a horse through a picturesque town. DeGeneres captioned the post, expressing her hopes that de Rossi will return home soon.

Following the 2024 election in the U.S., DeGeneres has indicated that the political climate influenced their decision to move abroad. In the video, set to Taylor Swift’s “August,” de Rossi is seen enjoying the English countryside, but when asked if she wanted a photo, she responded with a laugh, saying, “No.”
After selling their expansive estate in Montecito in August, the couple purchased a farm in the UK. DeGeneres noted that their relocation was initially planned as a temporary stay, but they opted for a permanent move after feeling the weight of election night’s results, saying, “We woke up to lots of texts from friends along with crying emojis. I said ‘He’s in,’ and we decided to stay.”
Life in the British Countryside
While adapting to their new surroundings, DeGeneres has shared snippets of their life, which includes exploring charming villages and experiencing the countryside’s beauty. She remarked on the appealing architecture and the simple lifestyle, saying it’s all quite stunning.
She also mentioned a few quirky aspects of their life in the UK. “We moved here in November, and even though it wasn’t the best timing, it was the first time I’d ever seen snow,” she shared with a hint of excitement. Importantly, she humorously added that they kept sheep for a brief period and that Portia brought her horse along, while she has taken a liking to chicken-keeping.
