Elon Musk is on track to become the world's first trillionaire as early as 2027, according to a new study.
Musk topped InformaConnect's recent ranking of the biggest business figures. study This is a list of companies and people approaching trillionaire status, based on market capitalization, value of holdings, and total net worth.
Currently worth an estimated $195 billion, Musk's fortune is growing at more than 100% per year, according to the study, which projects he will reach trillionaire status by 2027.
The study noted that his tech company, Tesla, is on track to be valued at $1 trillion by next year, with an annual growth rate of more than 170%.
InformaConnect said it calculated Musk's chances of becoming a trillionaire by using Forbes magazine's net worth data on the world's 30 richest people, recording data for the past six years going back to 2017.
“Of these 30 individuals, we removed those for whom at least five years of data was unavailable and a reliable average annual growth rate could not be calculated,” the study said. “We then calculated the average annual growth rate for the past five years for everyone on the shortlist and extrapolated this to produce a 30-year projection. We then used this data to predict who was likely to become a trillionaire and in what years.”
Musk also owns “X,” the platform formerly known as Twitter, which he frequently uses to promote his political positions and recently facilitated a “conversation” with former President Trump.
The tech and media mogul has also come under fire for his posts on Twitter, some of which have contained offensive content and promoted unfounded internet theories.
