Kevin O’Leary, head of O’Leary Ventures, discussed Elon Musk’s recent merger of xAI and SpaceX on “The Bottom Line,” pointing out that it’s a significant tech company valued over $1 trillion.
This Thursday, Musk made headlines by criticizing the AI firm Anthropic, branding its models as “misanthropic and evil.” His remarks were sparked by an announcement on platform X, revealing that Anthropic, led by CEO Dario Amodei and known for its Claude language models, secured a funding round of $30 billion, bringing its valuation to $380 billion.
In his reply, which quickly gained over a million views, Musk alleged that Anthropic’s AI exhibits bias against certain racial and demographic groups. He stated, “Your AI hates white people and Asian people, especially Chinese people, straight people, and men. It’s misanthropic and evil. Please fix it.”

Musk continued, expressing a rather bleak view: “Frankly, I don’t think there’s anything you can do to escape the inevitable irony of humanity ultimately becoming inhuman. You were doomed to this fate the moment you chose your name. The name of the wind.” His own AI company, xAI, and its chatbot Grok are seen as competitors to Anthropic’s Claude model.
Previously, Musk had criticized Anthropic when it was reported that they had restricted access to xAI’s Claude model. This kind of tension is becoming a recurring theme in Musk’s public pronouncements.

In another post about Anthropic, Musk acknowledged its achievements in coding, though he remarked, “It’s still not good enough at programming, but it’s going to be great in other areas.” He suggested that Anthropic’s actions might not bode well for its reputation.
On January 30, Musk made a rather ironic remark about Anthropic’s name, implying that it embodies contradiction, stating, “It is always worth remembering that fate loves irony. The most ironic outcome for a company named [Anthropic] is that it must be the most misanthropic thing!”
Anthropic’s funding round is notable, being marked as the largest private tech round to date, second only to OpenAI.

Musk is also embroiled in an ongoing feud with Sam Altman of OpenAI. The two exchanged barbs recently after Musk commented on a post suggesting that OpenAI’s ChatGPT could be connected to several fatalities. Musk had cautioned, “Don’t let your loved ones use ChatGPT,” while Altman countered by questioning Tesla’s Autopilot system.
