Elon Musk critiques Christopher Nolan’s casting decisions for his upcoming film, *Odyssey*. The director remarked that he chose Lupita Nyong’o for the role of Helen of Troy, stating, “because I want the award.”
In a recent post on X, a user questioned Nolan’s motivation for replacing traditionally white characters, suggesting it’s about “quotas and awards.” Musk chimed in on the conversation, asserting, “He wants awards.”
The SpaceX CEO responded to a comment from Daily Wire host Matt Walsh, who stated, “Nolan knows he’ll be labeled a racist if he casts a white woman as ‘Most Beautiful Woman.'” Walsh described Nolan as talented but cowardly, claiming he’s hesitant to confront cultural norms.
Musk echoed Walsh’s perspective, simply saying, “It’s true.”
The original commenter also shared a headline that claimed Musk mocked Elliot Page’s masculinity while questioning Nyong’o’s beauty regarding the *Odyssey*. Musk later posted a reply to that comment.
The headline was subsequently adjusted to read, “Elon Musk questions Lupita Nyong’o’s beauty as ‘Odyssey’ campaign reignites.”
Rumors have surfaced that Elliot Page will portray Achilles, a casting decision that has faced criticism. Actor Kevin Sorbo expressed his disbelief, stating he wouldn’t have considered such casting if the movie hadn’t been financed.
Regarding Nyong’o playing Helen of Troy, Musk previously criticized Nolan’s choice. In response to a user’s observation about Helen being depicted as “fair-skinned and golden-haired” in Homer’s works, Musk remarked, “Chris Nolan has lost his integrity.”
