President-elect Donald Trump told attendees at the Turning Point USA conference in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday that entrepreneur Elon Musk will not take over as president, as Democrats claim. He said no.
Democrats dubbed him “President Musk” after the SpaceX, Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) giants publicly opposed him in Congress last week and helped block a huge spending bill.
Democrats are trying to create a rift between Trump and Musk.
After describing the new “Department of Government Efficiency led by Elon Musk,” President Trump added:
No, he's not running for the presidency. I like smart people. As you know, they are starting a new initiative. Russia, Russia, Russia, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, various hoaxes. The new one is “President Trump has handed over the presidency to Elon Musk.” No, no. That's not happening. But Elon did a great job. Isn't it great to have smart people you can trust? Don't we want that? he did a great job.
Trump went on to describe SpaceX's accomplishment in capturing a rocket booster with two large “chopsticks.” This was a common occurrence during campaign campaigns.
Trump later credited Musk with helping him win Pennsylvania and providing free Starlink satellite connections to help victims of Hurricane Helen access the internet in North Carolina.
“We would like to thank him because many lives were saved,” he added.
Trump later expressed that he felt “safe” from Musk's alleged presidential ambitions, saying, “He can't do that.” [president]. He was not born in this country. Hahaha. ”
“He's a great guy. We want to get him,” Trump concluded.
