Elon Musk intensifies conflict with Trump, promises support for Rep. Thomas Massie

Elon Musk has decided to intensify his conflict with President Trump by backing Thomas Massey, a prominent Republican congressman. Musk indicated his support by revealing plans to contribute to Massey’s reelection effort for 2026 on X, after a prompt from someone asking about his backing for the Congressman.

In the meantime, Trump has vowed to support candidates opposing Massey in the primaries. Massey has previously labeled Trump a “loser” and described some of his allies as “third-rate lawmakers” during a recent online exchange.

Massey, who leans libertarian and is 54 years old, has openly criticized Trump’s broad domestic policy bill, calling it misguided. He also denounced the U.S. military strike against Iran as unconstitutional, expressing concerns over American involvement in foreign conflicts.

Recently, Massey collaborated with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) to promote a bipartisan resolution aimed at preventing U.S. engagement in the Israeli-Iran conflict.

This verbal clash seems to have escalated after Musk took to social media to critique the domestic policy initiative, dubbing it “totally crazy” and potentially harmful to the political landscape.

Trump reacted strongly on Monday night, issuing a threat to launch an investigation into Musk’s company regarding government subsidies, suggesting that Musk might need to “close the store and return to South Africa.”

“Elon may receive more government subsidies than anyone in history, but he could still end up relocating back to South Africa,” Trump remarked.
