Elon Musk Reflects on His Microsoft Internship During Discussion with Satya Nadella

Elon Musk and Microsoft Collaborate on AI Model

Elon Musk and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently introduced the new Xai flagship Grok 3 model at Microsoft Azure. This model will be available for free during June on the Azure AI Foundry, which also includes offerings from other major AI players like OpenAI and Meta.

The announcement took place at the Microsoft Build Developer Conference, where Nadella took a moment to reflect on Musk’s early career. He mentioned, “I know you started as an intern at Microsoft,” recalling Musk’s involvement as a Windows developer while also noting his beginnings as a PC gamer.

Musk, smiling, shared his own early experiences in tech, mentioning he began programming before Windows using DOS on early IBM PCs that had just 128K of memory. He elaborated that he was actually programming video games in DOS prior to moving on to Windows 3.1.

The conversation between the two tech giants offered insightful glimpses into Musk’s programming roots. Nadella praised the Xai Grok for being a “family of responsive and inferable models,” expressing excitement for its potential on the Azure platform.

Musk elaborated on his vision for the upcoming Grok 3.5 model, emphasizing its aim to infer from foundational principles. He explained, “If you’re trying to reach the fundamental truth, it involves identifying the axiomatic elements that are most likely to be correct.” He noted that Grok 3.5 focuses on fundamental physics, applying those principles to the inference domain in pursuit of accuracy.

This partnership marks an important milestone as Musk’s Xai broadens its influence through one of the world’s largest cloud services, shaping the future of AI.
