Elon Musk teams up with Microsoft for Grok 3 while still pursuing the lawsuit against OpenAI

Microsoft Hosts Elon Musk’s Grok 3 Amid Legal Disputes

Home Depot aims to stabilize prices, Honda is reducing its electric vehicle lineup, local tech hubs are losing talent, and cruise vacation demand is reportedly on the rise, according to Viking.

In a recent legal conflict involving Tech Mogul Elon Musk’s Xai Grok 3, Microsoft announced that it will be hosting Grok 3 on its Azure Service. This comes amidst a lawsuit filed by Musk against OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, claiming he has strayed from OpenAI’s original non-profit vision by shifting its focus to a for-profit structure.

This hosting arrangement means that Grok 3 will not just be accessible, but users can also tap into other artificial intelligence platforms, like ChatGPT from OpenAI, Meta, Cohere, and more.

Musk mentioned he intends to remain Tesla’s CEO for the foreseeable future.

On May 20, Musk expressed his continued commitment to legal action against OpenAI and Microsoft, the creators of ChatGPT, during a speech at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha. Despite Microsoft being a significant stakeholder in OpenAI, it seems Musk and the software giant are navigating their legal matters without any apparent collaboration.

By becoming a central hub that supports various AI models, including its own co-pilot, Microsoft reiterated its dedication to fostering an open and versatile AI ecosystem, rather than leaning on a single provider.

Musk’s Tesla CFO received a remarkable compensation package, totaling $139 million.

Grok 3 was introduced during a virtual session that Musk participated in via pre-recorded videos at a Microsoft Build developer meeting. Musk co-founded OpenAI with Altman in 2015, but he later departed in 2018 over disagreements regarding the company’s strategic direction.

Reports indicate that Microsoft is working to persuade developers and businesses that its AI approach is a more viable option compared to its rivals, including partners like OpenAI, Google, and Amazon.

For a limited time, Microsoft stated that Grok 3 will be available for free, but a subscription will be required after this initial phase.
