Elon Musk’s security team alerted the police about a neighbor they believed was unclothed.

Neighbors Upset Over Elon Musk’s High Security Compound

The saying goes that high fences make bad neighbors, and that seems to ring true for those living near Elon Musk’s heavily fortified residence in Austin, Texas. Reports have surfaced that Musk’s security team called the police on one neighbor for allegedly being naked in the street.

Paul Hemmer, a retired real estate agent and member of the Westlake Hills Neighborhood Homeowners Association, has been quite vocal about what he claims are zoning violations related to Musk’s property. He expressed concerns over the security measures in place, indicating the billionaire’s residence is under constant surveillance from masked security cameras positioned throughout the combined lots bought for Musk and his family.

“I refer to it as Fort Knox,” Hemmer mentioned in a conversation with a reporter from The New York Times.

Last year, Musk’s security personnel accused Hemmer of inappropriate behavior, asserting he was naked outside. Hemmer firmly denied this, stating he was actually in black underwear.

On another occasion while walking his dog, Hemmer was seen by Musk’s surveillance cameras when he paused to relieve himself. “The camera caught me,” he said. “It’s unsettling knowing they’re watching all the time.”

In response to what he perceives as inappropriate surveillance, Hemmer decided to fly a video-equipped drone over Musk’s property to document what he considers violations.

Musk, the wealthiest man in the world with a portfolio that includes Tesla and SpaceX, purchased the mansion for $6 million. But his arrival triggered noticeable changes in the neighborhood, particularly with the construction of 16-foot chain link fences that exceed local height regulations and include outward-facing surveillance cameras.

Residents complained about traffic issues as well, noting that a fleet of Teslas frequently parked on nearby quiet streets. Additionally, security guards have been stationed in the area at all hours, contributing to neighborhood tension.

According to reports, Musk’s construction has violated several city regulations. Attempts to retroactively secure permits for various projects have been met with denial by local officials.

Hemmer, living directly across from Musk’s property, has formally lodged a complaint with the city. In his complaint, he mentioned that residents are now forced to relocate service employees and their vehicles to avoid confrontations.

Hemmer and other neighbors have also reached out to the Westlake Hills Zoning and Planning Commission, claiming Musk is effectively running a security business from his residence. Last month, the commission sided with the concerned residents.

Commissioner Jim Predger stressed the gravity of the situation, warning that allowing exceptions could lead to more rule-breaking among residents.

The Westlake Hills City Council is set to review the Zoning Committee’s decision on May 14, potentially requiring Musk to dismantle parts of his non-compliant facility.

In defense of Musk, his representatives have cited ongoing security threats faced by high-profile individuals.

Longtime resident Anne Yekel questioned why anyone would choose to live near Musk. “If security was the primary concern, then perhaps this isn’t the right neighborhood,” she observed.
