Elton John Refuses To Criticize Trump, Says His Nickname For Kim Jong Un Is ‘Hilarious’

In the published video VarietyRock legend Elton John says he finds the nickname former President Donald Trump gave to North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “very funny.”

In the video, Variety The journalist was clearly trying to lure Elton into speaking out against the former Republican president, but ironically it backfired.

“I just thought it was so funny when he did that,” John said in a video posted Sunday, referring to Trump calling the North Korean leader “Rocket Man” or “Little Rocket Man.”

“It made me laugh,” he added.

The former president's relationship with Kim has been complicated in recent years. During a 2015 Republican debate, the former president called Kim a “crazy man,” but in a 2022 audiobook, he told journalist Bob Woodward that the two actually met and had “surprising chemistry.”

“Donald has been a fan of mine for a long time and has come to many of my concerts,” Elton John said. Variety It was featured in the video. [I’ve] I have always been friendly towards him… I appreciate his support.”

In September 2022, John performed at the White House during Joe Biden's presidency, and Biden awarded him the National Humanities Medal. However, in a recent interview, Elton refrained from taking a clear stance on what his ideal choice would be in the upcoming US elections.

“America is in a very volatile situation right now. America is a country that I love and always have loved, and I'm so grateful for how it has shaped who I am today,” he said.

“So I want people to vote for what's fair, what's important to them: the right to choose, the right to be who they are, and not have other people tell them what they should be. And that extends all the way to the Supreme Court.”
