Elvis Presley’s granddaughter has filed a lawsuit against an investment company that is trying to foreclose on the singer’s historic Graceland mansion in Memphis, Tennessee. Her granddaughter is alleging fraud, and she claims the company has no legal title to the property.
Actress Danielle Riley Keough, daughter of Elvis Presley’s daughter Lisa Marie, is the current owner of Graceland, pending a court ruling on fraud charges against Nowsunny Investments and Private Lending LLC. , was given a restraining order against any sales. A company files for a foreclosure on real estate, CNN I will report it.
The company alleges that Mr. Keough’s mother, Lisa Marie Presley, borrowed $3.8 million from them and gave them a deed of trust for the loan. Lisa Marie later passed away in January 2023.
But Mr Keogh’s lawyers insist the documents filed by Nowsunny Investments are untrue.
“These documents are fraudulent,” Keough claims in the lawsuit. “Lisa Marie Presley never borrowed money from Nowsunny Investments and never delivered her trust deed to Nowsunny Investments.”
The actress’ lawsuit also states that the notary named on the documents “never met Lisa Marie Presley or notarized any documents on her behalf.”
Keogh’s lawsuit further alleges that Nowsunny Investments “appears to be a sham organization established for fraudulent purposes.”
CNN has tried in vain to reach Nowsunny Investments for comment, noting that even the phone number listed for the company is no longer in use.
Nowsunny Investments tried to claim ownership of Graceland and announced on May 23 that it would sell the property, but Mr. Keogh was able to obtain an injunction to stop it from doing so.
Elvis Presley Enterprises, the company that manages Presley’s estate and operates tours and other events on the property, also declared documents from Nowsany Investments to be fraudulent.
“Elvis Presley Enterprises can confirm that these claims are fraudulent,” Elvis Presley Enterprises said in a statement. “There is no foreclosure sale. Simply put, the counterclaim was brought to stop fraud.”
Keough’s next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Shelby County, Tennessee.
Graceland is America’s second most-visited home after the White House, and court records show Lisa Marie earned millions of dollars a year from her stake in the property. The estate is worth about $500 million, according to Elvis Presley Enterprises.
