Elvis Presley’s Personal Bible to Be Auctioned with a Starting Bid of $30,000

A Bible belonging to the king of rock and roll will go up for auction starting Saturday, but fans who want it will need to be prepared to shell out big bucks. This Bible was on Elvis Presley’s nightstand the night he died. His name is engraved on the cover and the verses are underlined. GWS Auction The sale will begin on May 25 with bidding starting at $30,000. Bids must be at least $2,500 each. The Bible is accompanied by a letter from cousin Patti Presley and is a World Edition Bible.

According to GWS Auctions, the cover features “Elvis Aaron Presley” embossed in gold, and the inside contains “numerous pages with book marks and underlined passages that appear to be addressed to Elvis.”

Some of the poems that Elvis emphasized were Job 31:24-26“If I had made gold my hope, and said to the pure gold, ‘Thou art my trust,’ then would I have rejoiced, for my wealth was great, and my hands had gained much; if I had seen the sun shining, and the moon walking in its glory.”

Elvis is highlighted Genesis 1:31: “God saw everything that had been made, and behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning. On the sixth day.”

he also emphasized Isaiah 29:19“The meek shall rejoice in the Lord; the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.”

Elvis’ Christian faith played an important role in his life and was the focus of a 2022 film Elvisis a work that depicts how, in his later years, he asked television executives for permission to sing gospel music on a special program. “It is well known that Elvis was an avid reader and deeply spiritual person,” GWS Auctions said. “Of all the Elvis Bibles we’ve sold over the years, this particular book has a truly inspiring story and incredible provenance.”
