Eminem has a little favor to ask Matthew Stafford.
Ahead of Sunday's wild-card playoff showdown between Stafford's current Rams team and former Lions team, the Detroit rapper asked the Super Bowl-winning quarterback to “make this game” in his former city. I begged him to let me do it.
“What did you say, Stafford?” Eminem began in his “Sunday Night Football” preview.
“You owe me this favor, brother. I was there for you when you won. I was there for you. I was there. I rapped for you, Stafford. I rapped for you, brother. Can I just have this? Just this?”
Stafford spent the first 12 years of his career with the Lions before being traded to the Rams in January 2021, where he was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
A year later, he won his first Super Bowl title at SoFi Stadium, where Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar performed halftime shows.
As for the Lions, they acquired then-Rams quarterback Jared Goff as part of the trade, and the former No. 1 overall pick led Detroit to its first NFC North title in 30 years last season.
Sunday's game at Ford Field will be the Lions' first home playoff contention in decades.
“We would love to win a championship in this city, which hasn’t had a playoff game in a long time.” Goff said, In 2023, he threw for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions in 17 regular season games.
“It's much more important to me than anything personal.”
The Lions finished Goff's third season in Detroit with a 12-5 record.
Meanwhile, the Rams finished the season with 10 wins and 7 losses, finishing in second place in the NFC West.
Lions vs. Rams kickoff begins Sunday at 8:15 p.m.
