Emma Stone jokes about Taylor Swift’s reaction to her Golden Globes win, ‘what an a–hole’

Emma Stone shared insight into her decades-long friendship with pop star Taylor Swift after her big win on Sunday night at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.

Swift was seen cheering when Stone won Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her performance in Poor Things. The “Midnight” singer was seated at Stone's table with guest Miles Teller's wife, Kelly Teller.

“What an a-hole, right?” Stone joked when Fox News Digital asked about Swift's loud cheers and support during the actress' big moment.

“I've known her for almost 20 years, so I'm very happy to have her,” she added. “She was so glad she was there because she was nominated tonight too, but how awful is she?”

This is Swift's fifth TV and film award nomination.

Swift spent the night with friends Emma Stone, Kelly Teller and Selena Gomez, while her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce watched the Kansas City Chiefs play the Los Angeles Chargers.

Swift and Stone have been friends since they were teenagers, and first met in 2008.

“It's so important to have people you can trust, and Emma and Serena.” [Gomez] “Me and I, a lot has changed in our lives over the last few years, but our friendship has remained the same,” Swift told Access Hollywood in 2012. “So that's really good.”

Speaking in the press room, Stone said of drawing inspiration from her own life: “Rather than drawing on life experiences, I think I took away from them.”

“She was a character I had never played or read or seen before,” she continued. “It wasn't so much about capitalizing on the past as it was about unlearning what we had learned. It was really beautiful and very freeing.”
