House Lawmaker Calls for Jail and Deportation of Rep. Ilhan Omar
In an exclusive report, a prominent Republican from Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home state is demanding that she be imprisoned and deported if investigations confirm that she or her father falsified information on federal documents to secure her U.S. citizenship.
Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota, is currently facing a federal investigation. This scrutiny revolves around claims that she or her father misrepresented her birth date on immigration forms when her family sought refuge from Somalia in the late 1990s. Omar, alongside fellow Democrats like House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, has criticized the investigation, labeling it as a politically motivated attack aimed at undermining one of President Donald Trump’s opponents with an election approaching.
Tom Emmer, the House Majority Whip and the third-highest leader in the House from Minnesota, shared his views with Fox News Digital, stating that there have long been “rumors” surrounding Omar. If these claims are substantiated, he argues, she should face repercussions.
“Personally, I think she should probably spend some time behind bars before being sent back,” Emmer remarked, further asserting that if the allegations about her deceiving authorities to obtain citizenship are verified, “then absolutely, she should go back to the front of the line.”
Omar’s Immigration Background Draws Closer Examination
Omar, commonly aligned with the House Squad, which includes representatives like Rashida Tlaib and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, has come under recent scrutiny. Earlier this week, federal agents conducted a raid on her Washington, D.C. residence, seizing her phone and other belongings.
The allegations originate from the fact that her father became a U.S. citizen in 2000, a time when Omar was believed to be 17—a minor eligible for automatic citizenship. However, there are now claims suggesting she was actually 18 at that point, which would necessitate a different path to citizenship.
In response to the raid, Omar expressed her feelings on social media, stating, “I’m okay. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement.” She labeled the charges against her as politically motivated and expressed her determination not to be silenced.
Democratic Reactions to Omar’s Dilemmas
Many of Omar’s supporters and critics of the investigation have condemned the raid, describing it as a disturbing move given its timing—just weeks ahead of the November 3 election. Jeffries, along with his deputies, issued a statement expressing their alarm at what they view as the federal government being misused against Trump’s critics.
Emmer contends that the investigation is not politically motivated. He explained that the existence of a search warrant indicates a judicial process where a judge must have found probable cause for a federal crime. He believes any targeting of Omar would have undergone the utmost scrutiny.
“If it was Ilhan Omar, it was certainly going to attract attention,” he said. “The fact that they issued and executed the warrant suggests that, perhaps, accountability is finally being pursued after all these years in her case.”
Fox News Digital sought a response from Omar’s congressional office regarding these developments.
