The United Service Organization (USO) confirmed that their Honor Support Team assisted in the dignified transfer at the airport on July 21, though they withheld information about the fallen service member’s identity.
In a statement, the USO expressed their commitment to supporting military families during difficult times. “As service members depart for their final homecomings, our staff and volunteers stand ready to provide compassionate support to their families,” they said.
This memorial event occurred amidst the nation’s remembrance of four recent service members who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict with Iran. Earlier that day, the Department of the Army’s rapid response account shared news of a dignified transfer ceremony honoring those brave individuals.
Writing on social media, the account stated, “Today we welcome home four brave Americans who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Their bravery will never be forgotten.”
FBI Director Kash Patel also honored the fallen soldiers, noting, “We owe the ultimate price to American patriots who paid the ultimate price for this country. We will never forget.”
Among those lost recently were Sgt. Michael Swinton, 30, and Lt. Tyler Feehan, 25, who were identified as casualties of their service. The expressions of pride and sorrow from leaders like North Carolina Senate candidate Michael Whatley and Congressman Mark Harris demonstrated the deep sense of loss felt by their communities.
Harris shared, “The state of North Carolina and the Fort Bragg community is mourning the loss of two outstanding men who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.” He mentioned how everyone gathered at the airport serves as a reminder of the debt owed to these heroes.
