Emotional Reunion for Los Angeles Man and His Stolen Dog
A man from Los Angeles was overwhelmed with emotion as he was reunited with his cherished dog three years after she was taken from him.
Images captured the poignant moment when Shelton Trainor embraced his long-missing Boston terrier, Bee, for the first time since July 2020.
Bee was stolen from her front porch around midnight while Trainor prepared to leave. Trainor recounted that this was a routine they had followed for years—she typically accompanied him to the car or patiently waited on the porch.
“We’d done it for so long that it felt automatic,” he said, recalling that fateful night when, after returning, he found Bee was no longer there.
A neighbor’s security camera provided no insights into her abduction, which left Trainor in anguish. He dedicated years to searching for her, distributing flyers and even launching a business featuring her image to keep her story alive.
Everything changed on March 30 when a friend saw a post on Instagram by Wags and Walks, a Los Angeles rescue group. They had just rescued a Boston terrier from a city shelter.
Upon seeing the photo, Trainor instantly recognized Bee and remarked in the comments: “She’s 11 years old and was stolen from me three years ago.”
In an unexpected turn, Bee had been on the verge of being adopted just a day before Trainor discovered the post, with an interested adopter backing out at the last minute.
The reunion occurred the following Monday at the Wags & Walks Adoption Center, where Bee had found refuge after arriving at the shelter as a stray.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Trainor expressed gratitude to everyone who helped bring Bee back, writing: “Just finished crying. After three long years, I finally have the love of my life back.”
He added, “Words can’t express how thankful we are. It truly took a village, but thanks to all of you, she was finally able to come home.”
The circumstances of Bee’s time away remain unclear; it’s uncertain who cared for her or how she ended up on the streets before being rescued.
Upon their reunion, Trainor noted that it felt as if no time had passed. Bee seemed to remember the way home, confidently leading him back and knowing exactly where her bed was.
“She’s a little diva,” he noted, adding that she appeared slightly displeased with him initially. And in a humorous Insta update, Trainor shared a photo of an uninterested Bee alongside her new dog sibling, joking about the start of sibling rivalry.
Trainor assured that he would never stop searching for her, reflecting on the journey. When asked how Bee found her way back, he speculated about whether she had escaped or wandered until a compassionate neighbor took her in.
Despite coming back a bit overweight, Trainor was relieved she appeared well cared for and healthy overall. “I never stopped looking for her, but seeing her face on that Instagram post was a moment I can’t even put into words,” he said.
