Employees React Strongly as Repeatedly Deceiving Outlet Faces Major Job Cuts

A Major Shift at the Washington Post

The Washington Post is reportedly facing significant layoffs, and its left-leaning staff appears to be experiencing a substantial downturn.

This seems to be a newsroom in decline, and I can’t help but find it somewhat entertaining. The paper—well, it hasn’t been exactly kind to me, and it has often passed itself off as neutral while pushing a clear agenda. I’m not particularly remorseful about witnessing the crumbling of a publication known for spreading misinformation.

So, let’s talk about this collapse.

This past weekend, news came out that, after pouring a lot of money into Winter Olympics coverage, the Washington Post decided to withdraw from the event entirely. Amid all the preparations, they suddenly announced they would no longer send reporters.

Now, sources indicate that we should brace for another round of large-scale layoffs. It’s worth mentioning that previous layoffs had already taken place, and now we’re looking at an even bigger reduction. It’s almost unbelievable to see this decline happen so rapidly.

Staff members have been told about this latest round, and it seems particularly impactful, with reports suggesting the disbanding of the sports desk and a significant scaling back of the foreign desk.

It’s interesting, really. Staffers at the Post sometimes characterize their roles as noble, akin to fighting fires. Yet, their complaints often come off as quite the opposite—whiny and a bit self-indulgent.

Do they not realize that their perceived heroism might be seen as deceptive? They crave sympathy, hoping for collective outrage and support. But instead, many of us just watch the fallout and feel a certain satisfaction. It feels like a retribution for all the misinformation.

Why should anyone wish for the survival of a news outlet that has actively participated in this decline?

The Washington Post seems to be heading toward a slow and painful end, especially when you consider Jeff Bezos—one of the wealthiest people around—choosing not to intervene.

In the short run, it might feel like lies can bring success, but the truth is that it can’t last. Even political allies will eventually tire of constant deception.

So, I guess it’s time for some of them to consider alternative careers. Maybe they will find new opportunities on platforms like Substack.

Perhaps they should just keep crying over their fate.
