En Vogue singer’s ex-husband offers her a job after she reveals she is homeless

Dawn Robinson's ex-husband Andre “Dre” Allen is reaching out for help to the ex-En Vogue Singer after revealing she has been living from the car for three years.

During an interview with TMZ Hip Hop It was published Thursday and Allen, 49, who married 58-year-old Robinson from 2003 to 2010, shared that he offers her a job in the hospitality industry.

Allen, a singer-songwriter and former member of 1990s pop and R&B group IV Xample, still works full-time in hospitality, and says he believes Robinson is a “perfect” addition to the sales division of the Hilton brand.

He predicts that Robinson will be successful in sales because of her “charism and personality,” and does not believe that the entertainment industry will “not pay for anything worth it.”

Allen began his musical career in 1992, forming IV Xample with fellow members Robert “Bobby C” Shevis, his younger brother Raymond “Rannilay” and Bryant “Rusious” Woodard. The group's debut album, “Format,” features the hit single “I's Last Alone,” and sold over 500,000 copies.

After the group was split in 1998, Allen released two solo albums and wrote songs for many recording artists. He told TMZ that when he reunited with the group in 2008 before leaving again in 2011, he helped promote Robinson's return to En Vogue.

While talking to TMZ hip hop, Allen said he left the music industry at the outlet, saying he saved “life and finances.” He explained that he feels greater financial success in the hospitality industry than he has been able to achieve in the music business over the years.

Allen claimed he lent money to “dozens of prominent music industry friends,” and said he knew others who died from poverty.

He told TMZ Hip Hop that he previously offered Robinson the opportunity and hopes she will accept the position. Allen said his ex-wife will receive “free medicine from day one”, as well as “the PTO will juggle her career.”

In the video posted on YouTube On Tuesday, Robinson, who found success with Envogue Band members Cindy Heron, Terry Ellis and Maxine Jones in the 1990s, opened up about life in her car since 2022.

She explained why she chose to pursue “car life” and expressed her hope that her vulnerability would help inspire others in dire circumstances.

“People say, 'You shouldn't talk about it You are a celebrity, And what if they judge you? “so what? What if they judge me? Life is life. . . . Part of being human is vulnerable,” she said.

“Everyone, I've been living in my car for the past three years,” she added. “I said that, oh, it's out.”

Robinson said her purpose was to “inspire” others and let people know that they can “do anything, regardless of the possibility that they might oppose you.”

Robinson said she lived with her parents in Las Vegas about five years ago, explaining how she turned out. After confronting her mom, the singer decided to leave and slept in the car for about a month.

The then co-manager urged her to move to Los Angeles and told her she would help Robinson find a place to stay. However, after living in the hotel for eight months, Robinson cut his tie when he realized he was “playing a game.”

“I think sometimes people want to catch you and put you in a situation when you're vulnerable,” she said. “So I got out of there.”

Robinson then packed his car and headed to Malibu, California to begin “car life.”

“I have no regrets about anything,” she said. “That first night was scary.”

Robinson quickly learned the inside and outside of car life, avoiding talking to “specific people,” such as “closing the windows.”

“I felt free,” she said. “It was very different. It felt like I was on a camping trip. I felt that it was the right thing to do.”

“I'm learning who I am as a person and as a woman,” she continued. “We say we can't do certain things before we know we are capable. …I'm happy that I made this choice because I had to go through this fire.”

“I will not exchange my experiences with what I have experienced for the world,” she added. “I miss my family. I miss everyone I was connected to. But I had to do this on my own.. But I had to do this for me. It's never easy for me.”

Robinson said he was “really proud” of how far she was going, urging her followers to face their fears.

“I challenge you to do something scary,” she said. “People are going to call you crazy, and that's fine. You feel a sense of freedom and you push yourself.”

“Voluntarily,” she added. “Do something scary. f—- terrifying.”

Founded in 1989, En Vogue has won six Grammy Award nominations. Robinson left in March 1997, but reunited with the group in 2005 and 2008.
