Energy stays strong on the second day of the Republican Midterm Convention

The atmosphere in Dallas was lively as the 2026 Republican Midterm Convention entered its second day. By Thursday afternoon, the American Airlines Center was buzzing with attendees eager to catch another round of speakers that included various congressional candidates from across the nation.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) took to the stage around 5 p.m., greeted by a wave of applause. He addressed the critical nature of the upcoming midterms, repeating a sentiment that had been echoed by many throughout the event: “We gather here at a time for choosing… the most consequential midterms of our lifetimes.”

‘It’s refreshing to see all that this administration has achieved.’

Cruz also highlighted the extreme positions of Democratic candidates, creating a sharp contrast that has been a focal point for the Republicans: “They despise Christians, Jews, capitalism, and even America itself.”

Many attendees expressed a sense of empowerment from the convention, optimistic about its potential to drive voter turnout in November. Mark Knoderer, who traveled from Georgia, shared that he felt motivated by the radical views of Democratic candidates. “This election is crucial, and the Democrats are veering leftward to the point that it seems insane to support them,” Knoderer remarked.

Isaac Laster, chairman of the Young Republicans of Texas, conveyed his optimism regarding voter motivation for the midterms: “It’s encouraging to see what this administration has accomplished. I truly believe that will inspire people.”

Laster pointed out areas where Republican leaders can resonate better with younger voters, particularly on issues like the H-1B visa program. He praised Governor Greg Abbott’s recent decision to ban the program for taxpayer-funded institutions, calling it a positive move, and stated that younger voters tend to favor job security for American workers. “Those jobs should be prioritized for Texans,” he asserted.

The crowd continued to swell as notable figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Karoline Leavitt spoke, highlighting achievements from the Trump administration while criticizing their Democratic counterparts. President Donald Trump is scheduled to conclude the event with his address later in the evening.
