Harry Kane Expresses Interest in Multi-Sport Career

These days, we don’t often see athletes excelling in more than one sport. It’s pretty rare, right? But English soccer player Harry Kane seems open to giving it a try.

If he makes the jump to Major League Soccer (MLS), Kane mentioned he’d be interested in also playing as a placekicker in the NFL during his time off.

As reported by The Athletic, Kane recently hinted that he was close to renewing his contract with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. This led to questions about his future plans once that deal wraps up.

One of the ideas he’s tossed around—something he has discussed previously—is sports outside of soccer. While he’s considered turning professional in golf, he’s now particularly intrigued by the thought of playing American football.

“I will try and look at that a bit more seriously,” he stated. “It depends on how things go in my career over the next five or six years and what my motivations are. NFL seems much more realistic compared to going pro in golf, let’s put it that way.”

Interestingly, he hadn’t mentioned before the possibility of winding down his career in the MLS while also taking a shot at being a kicker.

Kane mused, “Maybe if I end up in the MLS or somewhere like that, it could work out with the seasons. It’s definitely in the back of my mind because right now, I really want to play for as long as possible here.”

That’s a good point to consider. The team likely eager to re-sign him probably isn’t keen on hearing about his side plan to also kick in the NFL.

But honestly? I think a lot of fans would be excited about it, myself included. Watching him kick a football would certainly be entertaining, especially since he seems to have the power to send the ball flying if he figures out the mechanics.

It’s likely that several NFL teams will keep an eye on Kane’s career when his time with Bayern Munich comes to an end.

Who knows? It might just be a dream, but we really could use more two-sport athletes nowadays.
