Trump Discusses FIFA Red Card Reversals for US Soccer Players

President Donald Trump spoke about his engagement with FIFA president Gianni Infantino regarding a contentious red card received by a US player. He deemed the referee’s decision as “terrible” and felt it was unjust to dismiss a top player over what he believed was a minor collision. Trump commended FIFA’s “excellent decision” to revoke the suspension, allowing key players to participate in the successful World Cup.

If England secures the World Cup and is presented the Jules Rimet Trophy by Trump, it won’t be the first encounter for Harry Kane with the president. Kane, now 32, shared that he played golf with Trump in Florida about a year and a half ago.

“He invited me to play while I was in Palm Beach, and it was quite surreal to meet him and hit the golf course together,” Kane noted.

The English star also praised Trump’s golf skills, expressing, “Honestly, he plays quite well. I hope I can match that level when I’m older. I’m really thankful for the invitation.” After scoring in England’s match against Mexico, Trump took to social media to commend Kane.

Reflecting on his golf experience with the president, Kane said, “I think he’s a great player. I’ve hit the links with him, and I really like him.” Kane is gearing up to lead England in a quarter-final match against Norway on Saturday. He has scored six goals in the tournament so far, making him England’s all-time leading scorer with 85 goals in 119 appearances for the national team.

England will need to keep an eye on Norway’s Erling Haaland, who has netted seven goals in five matches and has been a consistent scorer in international tournaments. The two stellar forwards will be looking to propel their teams into the semi-finals during their upcoming showdown.
