EPA Chief Lee Zeldin Cancels ‘400 DEI and Environmental Justice Grants’

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Lee Zeldin has announced that his division has cancelled more than the “400 DEI and Environmental Justice Grants” and saved nearly $2 billion.

In Monday's press release, the EPA I said The grant was cancelled with “Support from the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE).” The grant reportedly was identified as “straddle nine unnecessary programs,” with a total savings of $1.7 billion.

“This marks cancellation, a partner in EPA-Doge's fourth round, as administrators oversee line-by-line reviews of spending, bringing taxpayer total dollars saved by more than $2 billion since they were pledged and saved,” the release said.

“By working with Doge to reduce wasted federal spending, the EPA has saved more than $2 billion in taxpayer money,” said EPA administrator Zeldin. “It's our commitment to being an extraordinary custody of taxes at the EPA.”

The announcement comes weeks after Zeldin pledged to recover a $20 billion taxpayer fund lost to climate projects by the Biden administration. Zeldin announced when he accused the Biden administration of “throwing a gold stick from the Titanic” in connection with money lost in a climate project that he called the Biden administration “a job in a rush with reduced surveillance.”

“We're over the days of not loading cash into activist groups on the far left in the name of environmental justice and climate equity,” Zeldin said. “The American people deserve a more transparent and accountable government than what has happened in the last four years.”

Zeldin said the EPA will also terminate its agreement with the bank that oversees the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, a program born out of Biden's 2022 climate policy.
