EPA Chief Lee Zeldin Moves to Clear Massive Agency Backlog

EPA administrator Lee Zeldin announced Wednesday that he will move to cleanly clean up hundreds of backlog cases, saying the Biden administration focused on the agency's “pursuit of ideology” rather than the agency's “core mission.”

The agency said it is committed to working with states and tribes to work with states and tribes to resolve tribal implementation plans (TIPS) and tribal implementation plans (TIPS) that the Biden Harris administration has failed to resolve, or that it could not resolve. At the end of the Biden administration, there were 685 unresolved SIPs, with 322 being considered postponed.

“The Biden administration's focus on ideological pursuits in place of the agency's core mission and legal duties has led to delays in improving air quality,” the EPA administrator wrote in a statement. “With over 140 million Americans living in non-achieving areas across the country, we are making great strides in improving the air we breathe by eliminating the federalism of cooperatives and the backlog of state implementation plans.”

According to the EPA, state implementation is a collection of regulations and other documents that a nation or tribe uses to implement, maintain or enforce the National Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) to meet other requirements of the Clean Air Act.

The EPA has six “standards” for contaminants It's known It is harmful to human health. This includes:

  • Carbon monoxide
  • Lead Air Pollution
  • Nitrogen Oxide Contamination
  • Ozone pollution
  • Particulate matter contamination
  • Sulfur dioxide contamination

The Clean Air Act requires the EPA to review and approve all SIPs that meet the requirements of the law. However, many states have raised concerns about being punished for emissions outside the state's control and for emissions from air quality monitors that are not located in the most logical area.

The EPA said it would grow the economy to include the development of high-tech manufacturing such as semiconductor manufacturing and artificial intelligence (AI) development, rather than oppose it, to ensure that air quality is protected.

This is just the latest move in the EPA and Zeldin efforts Secure it Americans have a clean air while “empowering the great American comeback.”

Matthew Boyle, chief of the Breitbart News Washington Bureau, explained in an exclusive interview with Zeldin in February.

Zeldin and his team are presenting this new initiative (the new initiative entitled “The Great American Comeback”) here. The initiative has five main pillars: The first is seeking “clean air, land and water for all Americans.” The second is to “restore American energy control,” and the third is to “allow reform, cooperative federalism, and agency partnerships.” The fourth pillar is to “make the United States the world's artificial intelligence capital,” and the fifth is to “protect and take home American car jobs.”

“The EPA will actively pursue an agenda that promotes America's great comeback. That's our agenda we wanted to announce with you. That's what we're calling it, that's our purpose, and that's what keeps us at night. The EPA wants to support that great American comeback. President Trump is the leader of our country and as America's great people, and it's up to the EPA to ensure that at the time we're playing our part in making it happen.
